The Embassy of Switzerland and swissnex Singapore are proud to welcome the TOPtoTOP Global Climate Expedition reaching the shores of Singapore as a family of 5 at Raffles Marina on the 10 November. This adventurous expedition began in 2002, and is a non-profit organisation of volunteers from 28 nations, based in Switzerland, under the patronage of the United Nations Environment Program and the Swiss Government.

After starting the expedition from Switzerland, the TOPtoTOP team has since accomplished climbing to the highest TOP in Europe, Mont Blanc, and the highest TOP in South America, Aconcagua, and a recent venture up Mt Kosciusko! Their challenge is to travel to the highest peak in each of the seven continents and over the seven seas, connecting all the major climate zones, using only their own strength and natural energy such as wind and sun.

A major part of TOPtoTOP’s mission is to inspire the younger generation to achieve a better future. They share examples of nature’s beauty and innovations for a green planet in class rooms and also give presentations to universities and other organisations all over the world.

On top of the expedition itself, the organizers have set up competitions on the topic of sustainability addressing students globally. The winners will be invited to Switzerland and will be able to develop a common project with their peers, which they will be able to spread further in their country of origin.

Schedule:
17 November, 10.45–11.30am: Presentation for pupils and parents at the Swiss School

17 November, 3-5pm: Talk for 250 young people from the Singaporean polytechnics, secondary schools, junior colleges and young environmental associations at Nanyang Polytechnic

18 – 20 November: Presence at Swiss Pavilion of Clean Energy Expo Asia at Shangri-La Hotel
18 November, 12.15-1pm: Techtalk by Dario Schwörer at Clean Energy Expo Asia: TOPtoTop Global Climate Expedition – A way to inspire young people/next generation for clean energy solutions!

About the Speaker:
Dario Schwörer obtained a multitude of certificates as a ski and mountain guide, riverrafting and canyon guide, sea skipper, diver, hang glider pilote and as a Swiss youth and sport expert for mountain climbing and ski tours. Therefore he feels at ease not only on the crossing of the Atlantic with a sailing boat as well as with skis on the 8000 metre high Himalaya or with the hang glider in a thermal tube. During his wide outdoor education he studied geography and became a demanded expert for climate change effects on alpinism.

Synopsis of Tech Talk:
Get insights into the adventure of setting up a world record by traveling through all climate zones over the 7 Seas to the 7 Summits only by using wind and sun energy. The Swiss founder and adventurer Dario Schwörer, who will reach the shores of Singapore with his wife and three kids, will give a Tech Talk on the 18th November at 12 pm, describing his initiative which creates awareness among young generations worldwide and showcases opportunities to improve the living standards by using sustainable and renewable technologies.
