swissnex Singapore, a platform of the Embassy of switzerland, member of the Swiss Knowledge Network with outposts in Boston, San Francisco, Shanghai and Bangalore, was inaugurated 5 years ago as Swiss House Singapore by Federal Councillor Pascal Couchepin and Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

For 5 years, swissnex Singapore has supported, advocated and organised manifold activities in the areas of science, education, art and innovation in order to connect academic, governmental and economic partners of both regions on a long-term basis.
Besides the more than 100 organised events, swissnex Singapore has constantly expanded its extensive and solid network and can now count more than 60 sponsors including public organizations, private companies and universities in both countries. Furthermore, numerous Memoranda of Understanding have been signed between Swiss and Singaporean Institutions of higher learning.

Official Celebrations:
Welcomed by the Guest of Honor, H.E. Joerg A. Reding, Ambassador of Switzerland to Singapore, guests will discover some highlights of Swiss scientific excellence:

• Cronos, a humanoid robot presented by Prof. Rolf Pfeifer, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, University of Zurich, illustrating how behavior results from a subtle interplay between brain, body and environment.
Prof. Pfeifer will also introduce the ShanghAI Lectures on embodied intelligence and Starmind, enabling to address the most challenging questions.

• NOVA, the first full-color 3D LED light cube from ETH Zurich displaying up to 16 million colors with a refresh rate of 25 images per second, originally developed to dynamically visualize scientific data in three dimensions. NOVA will interact with a musical performance by Junyan Natasha Liu, a Singaporean cellist and Karen Undritz, a Swiss flutist, a subtle way to connect art, science and technology.

• The SCIENCEsuisse exhibition, an initiative of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, the Swiss National Science Foundation, the State Secretariat for Education and Research and the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation SRG SSR idée Suisse, a fascinating introduction to science showcasing achievements by 15 outstanding researchers from Switzerland, in a wide variety of disciplines ranging from astrophysics, geology, medicine and robotics to art history and philosophy.
After the event the exhibition will be further displayed from 7 to 28 July in the main hall of Fusionopolis.

The guests will celebrate swissnex Singapore 5th Anniversary while enjoying Swiss and Asian specialties and one of the most stunning views in Singapore!
