swissnex Singapore, previously Swiss House Singapore, is an information, coordination and networking platform of the Embassy of Switzerland bridging knowledge and competencies in science, education, art and innovation between Switzerland, Singapore and South-East Asia.

This new corporate identity reflects the willingness of the Swiss government to create a strong common brand allowing the existing as well as the future platforms to efficiently function, interact and be recognized as outposts of the Swiss Knowledge Network.

The programmes are targeted to young professionals seeking to improve their knowledge of current issues in international affairs or trade policy, and to students at the senior graduate level.

WTI: 7th Summer Academy and Master of International Law and Economics (MILE)
Launched in 2003, the World Trade Institute’s (WTI) Summer Academy addresses the increasing demand for up-to-date knowledge of the most cutting-edge issues in international trade regulation.
The MILE is an intensive one-year program, whose 10th edition will be launched in September 2009. Applications are accepted until 31 March 2009.

University of Zurich: lectures in English
The Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich will start offering a range of lectures conducted in English beginning in the fall semester of 2009.

Call for Proposals EIT-KICS-2009 – Knowledge and Innovation Communities
KICs aim at building partnerships between higher education institutes, research and the business actors, it is expected that successful KICs will be built along already established cooperation lines. Its objectives will be to establish new business areas for large and small and medium sized enterprises, as well as the creation of spin-offs. A special focus shall be put on education. The deadline for proposal submission is 27 August 2009.

Speech and Acoustics: An In-Depth Introduction
6 to 7 July 2009

The course, organized by the Centre for Signal Processing, School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, NTU, will cover all aspects of digital speech processing, including both theoretical and practical topics, starting with speech production and acoustics, followed by speech analysis and parameter extraction, speech modeling, theory of hidden Markov models and their applications to automatic speech and speech recognition.
